GULF COVE

Gulf Cove is located on the
western bank of the Myakka River, north of state road 776. This
is a community with canal and riverfront properties. Many of
the riverfront homes enjoy a view over nearly a mile of open
water.
This lovely town has an extensive canal
system (approximately 55 miles of navigable canals,) most of
which are very wide and provides residents with access to
Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. All the canals
converge into the Interceptor Lagoon, which leads to a lock
near the mouth of the Myakka River. A number of properties in
Gulf Cove are designated as having “sailboat access,” meaning
that there are no bridges to the harbor. There are several fine
restaurants within easy driving distance of Gulf Cove, and the
community is also a short drive to the beautiful white sand
Gulf beaches. Fifteen minutes away are four golf courses, Long
Marsh, The Palms, Oakland Hills and Cape Haze Links. Other
recreational opportunities in the immediate vicinity include
hiking and biking, tennis, fishing, wildlife viewing and
birdwatching, swimming, snorkeling and diving, boating,
surfing, parasailing, jet skiing and shelling. Gulf Cove is
just minutes to the charming communities of Cape Haze, Port
Charlotte, Boca Grande and Punta Gorda, Don Pedro Island and
more.
The
majority of the waterfront homes are located on wide canals.
The canals in this area are fairly short, so your boating time
to the river is only a few minutes. You can find waterfront
homes ranging in price from low $200K to over
$1M.
